Free Shade Trees

DWP Residential Energy and Water Saving Programs

The DWP offers incentives to recycle your old refrigerator and buy an energy efficient one. Other appliance incentives are available too. Receive $100 towards an ultra low flush toilet. Read about DWP rebates.

Online Service Requests

You can place service requests for street repair, tree trimming, downed trees or palm fronds in the street online.

This is a service provided by the  Bureau of Street Services.

Property Activity Reports

This is a service provided by the Department of Building and Safety.

Trash pickup continues on all on holidays except:

FACTS ABOUT EDUCATION IN PORTER RANCH


Porter Ranch Schools are Overcrowded

  • Porter Ranch has 1 elementary school built for 400.

  • Currently 800 are enrolled.

  • An additional 340 Porter Ranch students attend elementary school elsewhere.

Our Elementary Population will Double in 5 years

The Community Supports a New School

  • 73% of Porter Ranch households think a new elementary school will be needed.

  • 75% of Porter Ranch households think a new middle school will be needed.

  • 43% of households with students in private school would consider transferring  their children to a new public school.

We Will Pay LAUSD $40 Million in Taxes for Our School

  • The developer pays LAUSD a tax of $3.60 per square foot for each building permit.

  • That equals about $11,000 for a 3,000 square foot house.

  • This cost is passed on to the homebuyer. If you bought a new house, you have paid LAUSD an average of $11,000 for a new school.

  • S&S, the Porter Ranch developer, has paid LAUSD $12 million over the last 10-15 years.

  • They will pay another $28 million over the next 10+ years.

With $15.2 Billion in LAUSD Bonds We Still Don't Have a New School

  • The last 3 school bonds annually tax homeowners about $85 per $100,000 in assessed value.

  • Proposed Measure Y would annually tax homeowners another $27 per $100,000 in assessed value.

LAUSD Only Pays Half the Construction Costs

  • Prop 47 provides $13.2 billion from the state to match construction costs.

7 Acres Will be Donated for the School Site

  • The developer will donate 7 acres for a school site if LAUSD acts within 3 years of 60% of the houses are sold.

  • Remaining required land must be purchased at market value.

LAUSD Has the Largest Infrastructure in the US

  • LAUSD serves 750,000 with a budget of $10 billion

  • The City of Los Angeles serves 4.1 million with a budget of $6 billion
